ARTISTIC AREAS

ACADEMIC AREAS

How are we different?

We are the only school in the area that provides:

Our Instructional Model

ARTISTIC MENTORSHIP

Adjunct instructors from the collegiate and professional artistic industries provide our students with a direct link to the current state of the arts world.

DUAL CREDIT / AP COURSE OFFERINGS

In partnership with College of DuPage, high school students are able to receive college credit for coursework in the arts and business.

HANDS-ON LEARNING

Students have access to professional experiences to prepare them for the real artistic world.

Arts business

All students take business courses to prepare them to be artistic entrepreneurs.

Conservatory Training

Guest teaching artists are essential to our curriculum. All arts areas feature a rotation of professional teaching artists throughout the year to provide a wide scope of skills and perspectives.

Specialized Coursework

As students grow in the program, they take specialized courses to prepare them in their areas of interest beyond general arts classes. For example, a music student will take courses in conducting, arranging, and private lessons on their instruments as part of their school day.

Capstone Projects

Students conduct capstone projects in their major art area of concentration. A culminating project where students will be encouraged to think critically and creatively. Artists develop skills in research, communication, media literacy, self-sufficiency, and professionalism.

Modern Technology

As a pre-professional arts program, students have access to modern technology that prepares them for arts experiences in the real world.

Student Internships

With professional partnerships at the core of our philosophy, students are given the opportunity to partner with professional artists and arts organizations to further their education through internships.

Tuition

Tuition is $30,000 plus additional fees for the 23-24 school year. Academy of the Arts is committed to providing a significant amount of financial support to students in need. While our fundraising efforts are dedicated towards this mission, we are not able to guarantee assistance to all families. For more information about tuition assistance, please contact info@illinoisartsacademy.org.

Students can attend Academy of the Arts for kindergarten through 12th grade.

Our curriculum team has been researching best practices for academic and artistic training at Academy of the Arts for several years. Several veteran educators and school administrators have worked together to develop academic curriculum models that align with Illinois Common Core State Standards with a focus on student-driven learning and the application of knowledge to real world situations to develop a deep conceptual understanding. Our team also has arts integration specialists that understand the unique learning styles of young artists. Students will be assessed throughout their academic journey to ensure that they are on track for college and career readiness.

The State of Illinois does not accredit any non-public institutions. However, they do offer recognition which can be applied for in the first year of full-time students.  We will be applying for recognition in Fall 2023. We will also be applying for accreditation from the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).  Our day school will include all standard curriculum to ensure that students are prepared for graduation and ready for college/post-secondary studies.

We have a targeted minimum number of students that we must reach with our application process to open our Day School.  While we anticipate Fall 2023 for the Pilot Program, this is subject to change pending enrollment.
